In the beginning was the Word
The Word was with God
And He was God, (whoa)

Through Him were all things made
(And without Him there is nothing)
Through Him were all things made

For the light shines in the darkness
And it has not overcome
Darkness has not over – come

Through Him were all things made

In Him was life and that life
It is a light to all man – kind
He is the light to all man – kind

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, but though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. But to those who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.
